So I've had my Kindle 2 for a couple hours now and here are some initial impressions.
The design is a great improvement, the buttons are no longer clunky and i have yet to accidentally turn the page. The form is slim and sexy, fits in the hand just like a book.
It's taking a second to get used to the new navigation style but i really like it. It really shows off the screen's speed improvements when UI elements update instantly and without a flicker.
Less is more. All in all there's more breathing room, wireless is controlled via software, the keyboard is slimmed down and the entire experience is paired back from the original kindle.
I've sent my self a couple of PDF's to varying results.. Images look great, but complex layouts still get a bit funky. If you have a supported alternative to PDF, you probably want to go with it.
My biggest gripe is the lack of a case, the original kindle came with a case as a standard accesory, and I don't want to buy a temporary case while i wait for my jaunty one to ship.
I'm going on vacation tomorrow, so I'm excited to see how it handles travel. But my first impressions are that this device won't be leaving my side for a while.

Huzzah! The Roku player has added support for Amazon video!
I've been waiting for this for a while, while the standard def limitation might leave some people feeling dirty, it didn't seem to bother me at all while watch Dr Horrible's sing along blog on Wednesday.
In fact after a few minutes I hardly noticed.
There is ton's of content available and between that and the Netflix on demand I'm considering ditching DirecTV all together. I just bought another device for upstairs I was so impressed!
Keep those channels coming ROKU!
